The Pittsburgh Pirates have one of the worst owners in all of baseball. With Pirates fans often calling for Bob Nutting to sell the team, the Pirates find themselves in an awkward crossroads most franchises don't get to face. With prospects and young talent creating a young core sure to become superstars, the low budget and cost-cutting methods of the cheap owners have many people worried the Pirates will squander the future potential of their roster.

We can't change ownership, but we can play by it's rules to make something out of the mess that Nutting has put us in. Skenes, Jones, Cruz, Hayes, Gonzales. All of those young pieces are at risk of being gone when their contracts are up, and we're not going to deny reality. Our goal is to build a championship roster before Paul Skenes and the rest of the roster inevitably become too expensive for our penny-pinching owner, utilizing Moneyball tactics to try and build a cheap team around our young superstar.
