Authentically Imperfect Covers: Du måste finnas

Описание: Experimentation night continued with this cover of the once again famous song "Du måste finnas". It's originally from the Swedish Musical "Kristina från Duvemåla" and yup, if you've been keeping track, it's my second Swedish cover - ever.

This song climbed the charts in December when Newkid recorded a version for the show "Så mycket bättre" which is when it caught my attention. It's also ironic, because I can actually do this one so much better... just not tonight. And it was a song that needed to come out tonight. (I don't make the rules, I just follow my gut!)

I think I did pretty well with the Swedish pronunciation on this one. There were fewer difficult words, just difficulties with musical pacing at times. And of course, as with all good too tired now/not enough practice covers, I nearly messed up the last line... but caught it in time for an awkward extended pause. I also completely lost track of the bridge, which is not unexpected as I only truly listened to it earlier this evening when I first tried out this song.

The lesson here is not to record a cover of a song that you don't know well and that is in your 3rd (4th?) language after a long, hard day. Or do it, and use it to process your feelings as only music can help us do.

Overall, I am satisfied with this one, content but not necessarily happy. I played through it about 4-5 times in its entirety before recording it, and a few more attempts on the bridge. I can definitely do it better so I'd like to record it at least once more when I have more energy and can actually focus.
