Authentically Imperfect Covers: Another In The Fire

Описание: This song was filling my heart today while I was practicing a different song, but when I looked up the chords for it, nothing felt quite right. I tried transposing, using a capo on various frets, but nothing fit. That's when I went to listen to the song on Spotify. And realised I liked 3 different versions of it. And then it made a bit more sense.

Playing along with the Live version got me closer to the song I was hearing in my head, but it wasn't until I played the Studio version that I realised... I was trying to copy someone else's sound when there was a different voice singing in my heart. So, unconventionally, I decided to record my heartsong version of this wonderful worship song.

A couple of odd starts later, and here you have my completely unique, different, I guess TRUE cover of "Another In the Fire". There were some parts I knew I wanted to do the way they came out. There were some phrases I knew I sing that way when I'm singing to myself. But this? This is the completely unfiltered - oops except for that random D chord that snuck in at the end and "woke" me up from my worship playing trance - version of the song that just HAD to be birthed tonight. Flaws and all.

This is authenticity. This is letting your heart speak. This is worship. I gave in to the song and the feels instead of trying to control it all or make it perfect, or as close to perfect as I could muster. The ending was completely improvised because my monitor went to sleep. Luckily, it's essentially a 3-chord song strummed in the same pattern over and over again, so it wasn't that difficult to feel it out and come to an ending.

I'm so glad I decided to take a chance on this. To take a chance on myself. It gives me hope that other risks or chances that our hearts want us to take are indeed worth taking and will work out. Even with poorly pronounced words or mixed up lyrics. In the end, the message is and will be clear. Where you are is where you should be. And you are not alone in the fire you are facing.
