Fake ED Raid in Delhi: Maid Mastermind Behind ₹4 Lakh Heist

Описание: In a case straight out of a crime thriller, a housemaid allegedly staged a fake Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid at an elderly couple’s home in southeast Delhi’s New Friends Colony — escaping with around ₹3–4 lakh in cash and valuables.

On February 11, three men in police uniforms entered the residence of an 86-year-old couple, posing as ED officers. The family was threatened, their mobile phones were seized, and they were confined to a room while the accused conducted a staged “search operation.”

Under pressure, the family placed a bag containing ₹10–12 lakh on the dining table.

The plan began to collapse when the victim’s grandson — a real ED lawyer — was alerted. Realising that genuine officials could be contacted, the accused panicked and fled with part of the cash and valuables.

Police later uncovered the shocking twist: the couple’s housemaid, Rekha Devi, allegedly masterminded the entire plot. She was assisted by her sister-in-law Pooja Rajput and four relatives.

During searches, investigators recovered an ITBP deputy commandant uniform, an ID card, a wireless set, seven luxury watches, jewellery, and a pistol with an expired licence.

The maid reportedly confessed that she planned the fake raid after observing that the elderly couple was often alone at home.

Both women have been arrested. Three men — including a serving ITBP personnel and a retired Army man — remain absconding.
