The Manimalarkkavu Bharani festival, celebrated annually at the Velur Manimalarkkavu Temple in Thrissur, is a lively event honoring Goddess Bhagavathy. Held every year between February and March, it attracts both devotees and cultural enthusiasts alike. A major highlight of the festival is the Kuthira Vela, a magnificent procession where beautifully adorned horse effigies are ceremoniously paraded through the streets. This vibrant event is accompanied by Kerala’s traditional melam, a percussion ensemble that fills the atmosphere with energy and devotion. In addition, other important rituals like Karimkali, a folk art performance, and Velichappadu, a sacred oracle dance, heighten the spiritual experience, helping devotees feel a stronger connection with Goddess Bhagavathy.
