Iceland journey starts Day 1 Keflavik Airport Euro travel

Описание: Arrival in Iceland – From Manchester to Reykjavik
Our Iceland adventure officially began with a flight from Manchester to Keflavík International Airport via Icelandair. The flight was smooth and scenic, and before we knew it, we were descending over a surreal landscape of black lava fields and distant snow-capped peaks.

Once we landed, we hopped on the Flybus – a comfortable and efficient shuttle service that took us from the airport to Reykjavik in about 45 minutes. The drive gave us our first glimpse of Iceland’s dramatic, windswept scenery. It felt like we had landed on another planet.

Our Stay: Day Dream BnB
We checked into our accommodation, Day Dream BnB, a charming and peaceful spot in Reykjavik. It had a cozy, clean vibe and was conveniently located near the city center. After freshening up and dropping off our bags, we headed out to explore the nearby sights.

Exploring Reykjavik: Hallgrímskirkja & Rainbow Street
Our first stop was the stunning Hallgrímskirkja, Reykjavik’s iconic church. Its design, inspired by basalt lava columns, is both minimal and monumental. We admired the architecture from outside and took the elevator to the top for panoramic views of the city’s colorful rooftops, ocean, and surrounding mountains.

From there, we walked down Skólavörðustígur, better known as Rainbow Street, a vibrant stretch painted in rainbow colors leading directly to the church. It was full of energy, with boutique shops, street art, and cozy cafés on both sides. We wandered, window-shopped, and soaked in the artsy vibe of the neighborhood.

Dinner at Bao Inn
After a day of travel and exploring, we were ready for something delicious – and we found it at Bao Inn, a small and stylish Asian street food spot. Cozy, casual, and exactly what we needed to end our first day in Iceland.
