Learn how to crochet a Half Double Crochet 2 Stitches Together (HDC2TOG) this is also referred to as the Half Double Crochet Decrease (HDC DEC).
This is a variation of the half double crochet. You are working a half double crochet in two stitches to create one. This is a decrease stitch which is great for hat, mittens, slippers or just about any crochet project.
Yarn over, insert your hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch (three loops on your hook), yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and pull through the stitch (five loops on your hook), yarn over and pull through all five loops to compete your half double crochet 2 stitches together.
