Knitting a "Mink" Inspired Outlander Snood/ Cowl

Alrighty, so as I mentioned in the video, the following are more like guidelines than a strict pattern. These are just some hints to get you started- other than that, this project is super customizable. You can decrease or not as you see fit as you go. But here are some tips:

Snood Option:

(Size 10 needles or similar size you have on hand.)
(Your choice of yarn mentioned in the video or down past tips)

-Cast on according to your shirt/ clothes size:
180-190 for SM-MED. 240-250 for LG- XL

-Knit in the round for 6 inches or as "high" (long) as you want the part that will cover your shoulders to be

After desired height, you can begin decreasing.

-Next round, I suggest ( k8-10, k2tog, repeat till end)

Knit next 2-4 rows depending on how gradual you want decreases to be

-Next decrease row, I suggest ( k8-10, k2tog, repeat again till end)

-Repeat until neck part is as slouchy or as tight as you want it to be

-BO, weave in ends.


Cowl Only Option:

(Size 10 needles or similar size you have on hand.)
(Your choice of yarn mentioned in the video or down past tips)

-Cast on 120-140 depending on how loose or tight around neck you want it to be. 120 for tighter, 140 for more slouchy

For 120 CO version- you really need no decreases, it should fit securely enough that it will hug your neck but still go over your head without decreasing.

-For 140 CO, knit as many rows/ inches as you would like until you want to start decreasing

If you decide to decrease, I suggest something like (k20, k2tog, repeat till end)

knit another 4-6 rows

Then I suggest (k10, k2tog, repeat till end)

Then knit until you are satisfied with height of cowl

-BO and weave in ends.



An extra note: The thicker or bulkier your other worsted weight/ bulky yarn you are knitting together with eyelash/ furry yarn is, the stiffer it will be allowing you to curl it/ roll it as it's worn by Claire sometimes.
