📖 سورة طه – Surah Ṭāʾ Hāʾ (20:114)
فَتَعَالَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمَلِكُ ٱلْحَقُّ ۗ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِٱلْقُرْءَانِ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يُقْضَىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُ ۥ ۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًا
"Exalted is Allah, the True King. Do not hasten with the Qur’an before its revelation is fully completed to you, and say: ‘My Lord, increase me in knowledge.’"
This beautiful duʿā reminds us that true growth begins with humility before Allah and a sincere desire for knowledge. Even the Prophet ﷺ was taught to continuously ask Allah for increase in knowledge, showing that learning is a lifelong act of worship.
The phrase “Rabbi zidnī ʿilmā” reflects the root ز-ي-د (z-y-d), meaning increase, growth, and expansion. It teaches us to seek knowledge that deepens faith, strengthens character, and guides our actions.
