Muhammad ibn Yazid’s rule is among those chapters of Islamic history that clearly illustrate the consequences of power, arrogance, and oppression. Although he succeeded in gaining authority, he weakened the very foundations of his government by ignoring justice, piety, and the rights of the people.
History teaches us that when a ruler abandons Allah’s law and adopts personal desires, injustice, and tyranny as his guiding principles, his rule does not last long. During the period of Muhammad ibn Yazid, oppression upon the people increased, consultation came to an end, and governance was carried out solely through force. As a result, rebellions intensified, public trust collapsed, and ultimately his government met a disgraceful and tragic downfall.
This incident teaches us that power is a trust and a test; when justice is absent, even a throne can turn into the threshold of a grave. The story of Muhammad ibn Yazid stands as an open message for every ruler and person in authority today: oppression may appear successful for a time, but it always fails in the judgment of history.
