Hattab originally studied engineering. She worked as a software developer before switching to cooking. After changing her career path, she worked at Andreas Caminada's three Michelin star Schloss Schauenstein in Switzerland, Massimo Bottura's three Michelin star Osteria Francescana in Italy, the Roca brothers' three Michelin star El Celler de Can Roca in Spain and Joséan Alija's one Michelin star Nerua, also in Spain.
Zizi Hattab also spent several years in New York. She worked at Blue Hill and later as executive sous chef at Enrqiue Olvera's Cosme under Daniela Soto-Innes.

Hattab opened the fully vegan restaurant KLE upon her return to Switzerland. Just two years after its opening, KLE has been awarded the coveted Michelin star. This made KLE the first fully vegan restaurant in Switzerland to get awarded a Michelin star.

Meanwhile, Hatta has opened a second restaurant, DAR, which also houses a cocktail bar. It focuses on vegan cuisine inspired by the cuisines of Morocco and Spain. In addition, Zizi has also opened a wine and tapas bar called COR. Both are in Zurich.
