Joe came to work with us for a few weeks to learn how to pour and finish concrete. He's a 23 year retired Air Force veteran who wants to start his own concrete company. This video shows us teaching him how to pour and finish a small concrete slab. The slab gets a broom finish with a tooled joint and hand edger.
This is the first concrete slab he's finished on his own after working with us for just a few days.
The big job we're doing here is a concrete pool deck around a 36' x 18' pool. We told the homeowner there would be some leftover concrete from the pump truck and to get some forms together if he wanted to use the concrete for something rather than waste it.
This is the slab forms the homeowner put together and where he placed them. It made a great training concrete slab for a beginner like Joe.
