Watermelon BBQ Steak | How To Cook A Steak | Best Method To Cook A Steak | Steak Cooking Experiment
FULL RECIPE HERE
Ingredients:
1 large watermelon
Heat Beads® BBQ Briquettes (green bag), enough to fill the hollowed melon
1 beef ribeye steak (or your preferred cut)
1 tbsp olive oil
Your favourite BBQ rub
Optional: Fresh thyme, rosemary, compound butter, or chimichurri
Method:
Prepare the Watermelon Grill
Cut the top off your watermelon and hollow it out completely. Use the flesh to whip up a refreshing cocktail for later.
Fuel the Grill
Fill the hollowed melon with Heat Beads® BBQ Briquettes. Light them and let burn until well ashed over.
Add the Cooking Surface
Place a small grill grate or wire rack over the melon opening to create your cooking platform.
Season the Steak
Coat your ribeye with olive oil and your favourite BBQ rub. Let it rest at room temp while the grill heats.
Grill the Steak
Sear the steak for 3–4 minutes per side, until it reaches an internal temp of 57°C (135°F) for medium-rare.
Rest and Serve
Let the steak rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Garnish with herbs, compound butter, or chimichurri, and pair with a watermelon cocktail for the ultimate BBQ experience.
