Escalating tensions between the United States and Iran could lead to a severe global oil crisis, according to foreign trade expert Dr. Manas Behera. He warned that if the US attempts to destroy Iran’s Kharg Island — a crucial oil hub — the conflict could disrupt oil supplies worldwide.

Dr. Behera said Iran may retaliate by targeting American oil companies operating in the Middle East. Such attacks could severely affect global oil production and distribution networks, potentially triggering a major energy crisis.

Kharg Island is considered one of Iran’s most strategic oil export centres. Any military action targeting this location could have far-reaching consequences not only for the Middle East but also for the global energy market.
