Today, I’m talking about the inevitable evil — push notifications — and how to persuade users to turn them on (because in many cases, they actually need them!).
What doesn’t work is showing a vague “Notifications” prompt and leaving users guessing.
What does work is giving users a clear reason to enable them and using a straightforward button label. Clear actions like “Turn on notifications” or “Keep me notified/updated” do the job perfectly.
