noBear's 1st adventure in 2019 was a double-shot National Park trip. We hit Glacier National Park for 4 days, and then made our way to Yellowstone for 3 days.
On this trip we tried to visit as many attractions as possible, given that we only had 3 days. We spent most of the Glacier portion of this trip backpacking through the backcountry. We knew it would likely be impossible to do the same in Yellowstone in that short of a time period. Hence, we made a vow to return to do just that (something we did this summer, for YNP's 150th Anniversary).
However, the sites we DID see pretty much play out like a YNP highlight reel, which is ironic given this video's purpose.
We got to see Gardiner, the North Entrance, the Hayden Valley, Mount Washburn, Dunraven Pass, Yellowstone Lake, Canyon, the Brink of the Lower Falls, Grand View, the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs, the Norris Geyser Basin, the Midway Geyser Basin, the Lower Geyser Basin, Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, the Bridge Bay Campground, the Indian Creek Campground, fly fishing on the Yellowstone River, LeHardy Rapids, the Kepler Cascades, the Firehole River Swimming Area (maybe the best-worst kept secret in Yellowstone), and so much more.
We got to see so many animals, including Grizzlies, Black Bear, Buffalo, Elk, Deer, and so much more!
This trip was before we really knew what we were doing, and the focus of the group was less backpack-centric, and more day hike/tourist focused. Ultralight wasn't even part of our lexicon yet. I don't even think we were REI Co-Op members at this point.
But in all seriousness... this is the trip where we really discovered that this group would become a "thing". It was the impetus for our current state, which is a much more backcountry focused endeavor.
That said, we definitely tapped into something in our DNA on this trip that made it a priority to eventually backpack through the backcountry of as many wilderness areas as we could. You can see that progression throughout our videos, starting with this first trip.
noBear's mission was always going to be long-form. Our personal taste, in the community, is to learn from the creators out there who post full trip vids. It's what allowed us to become seasoned vets out there, and our hope is that this channel can do the same for anyone watching who may also be on the fence when it comes to adventures like these. Perhaps we would've never taken that 1st leap had it not been for the creators who inspired us. We started as a foursome, and we now stand at 8 (with many more friends, acquaintances, and community members wanting to join in on the fun), so we must be doing something right. None of this would've been possible without the YT community.
Anyway, we hope you enjoy the short-form version of this trip. It runs a lot more like a highlight reel, and a lot of the filler has been cut. If the long-form trip videos are an evening with a bottle of fine wine... these cuts are a double shot of Patron with a Jameson chaser.
Right to the gut.
Thanks for coming along for the ride, and don't forget to like & subscribe if you enjoyed the free entertainment.
