The 4th China International Fashion Week ended with an awards ceremony for Chinese designers and a look at the autumn/winter collection of fashion master Georgio Armani.

The close drew even more media attention than the opening. About 1,000 Beijingers, including Chinese entertainment celebrities and foreigners guests attended.

With a theme of blending fashion, art, and technology, 28 fashion brands from 33 designers were on show during the week.

It is expected that China can transform itself from a garment manufacture power to a world fashion design center.

Ms. Jiang Pei Ling was awarded top model, chosen from ten outstanding beauties. She expected to be among the top ten but was surprised at getting the award. Born 21 years ago in northeastern capital of Harbin, Jiang won the hearts of the judges with her tall slender figure (85-60-88 cm) and deep dark eyes.

Jiang collected the award with special thanks to her modeling agency - The New Silk Road Company. Graduating from college with a degree in physical education, Jiang won second place in the 1999 Shanghai international model competition.

Understanding that Armani's professional dress represents a concept of grace, education and sophistication, Jiang showed the Italian designer's work in a steady and confident walk.

She said Chinese modeling agencies are now operated more on international standards, but the home fashion environment needs to be improved for Chinese models to be recognized overseas.

The Golden Top award was taken by Mr. Zhang Ji Cheng, chief designer of a southern China garment company. At age 30, Zhang has been working in the fashion design industry for 10 years, focusing women's fashion.
