Learn how to make authentic Thai Mango Sticky Rice also known as Khao Niew Mamuang. This classic Thai dessert combines sweet coconut sticky rice with ripe mango and a rich coconut sauce. Simple ingredients, beautiful presentation, and irresistible flavor.
Ingredients:
Mango Sticky Rice
2 cups glutinous sweet rice
1 ¼ cup coconut milk
1 tbsp salt
1 cup white sugar
1 ripe mango (Manila or Thai)
1 pandan leaf
Coconut Sauce Topping (optional)
¾ cup coconut milk
½ tsp salt
1 ½ tbsp white sugar
1 pandan leaf
Garnish:
Toasted mung beans or Toasted sesame seed (optional)
Instructions:
1) Soak rice 4 hrs or overnight
2) Steam rice 20 mins
3) Mix coconut milk + sugar + salt + pandan
4) Mix sauce into hot rice, rest 1 hr
5) Make coconut sauce topping
6) Serve with mango + extra coconut sauce
