Amidst all of the concerns we must confront from our birth to our death, however long that might be for each of us, there is only one question that really matters. Only one question has eternal consequences. Who you marry, how what job you have or how much money you make is of no eternal concern. Everything, according to King Solomon, is vanity, a chasing after the wind.

The greatest question each of us must answer in our lives is "Who is Jesus Christ?" Who is He and what does He mean to each of us? Is He simply a man, a radical figure with revolutionary ideas, a healer, the organizer of a new religion, a philosopher, or is He something more? If we review the evidence presented to us in the Bible, we discover that Jesus is actually "God with us," the second person of the Trinity who took on human flesh in order to pay the price for our sins, a cost which none of us could pay on our own. No amount of money or "religious" works will satisfy Father God's requirement of a perfect sacrifice to pay our sin debt. As Jesus Himself said to us, "You must be born again to enter the kingdom of God." And if a person makes that declaration and accepts Christ's payment on their behalf, his or her sins are forgiven, and they are then given the right to become Children of God. Yet, those who fail to make that determination within their lifespan will eventually be cast into the Lake of Fire. (See Revelation chapter 20)

Who is Jesus Christ?

I. The Nature of Life
A. Life is a Test – Gen 22:1; Ex 20:20; Ps 7:9; I Thess 2:4
1. Put simply, it all comes down to either “pass” or “fail”
a. There is only one deciding factor
b. The final outcome is not determined by a percentage of our
actions
2. The response to the question will determine our eternal future
a. Each person must make up their own mind
b. Don’t take the question for granted
3. We have our entire lifetime to formulate our answer
a. It is an extremely weighty decision
b. Don’t put it off until “later” because we never know how much time
we have
4. We only get one shot to get the answer right
a. There are no do-overs if we get it wrong
b. Incorrect decisions will be catastrophic
c. Check things out on your own and choose wisely
B. The Majority of People in the world will fail the test – Matt 7:14
1. The deck is stacked against humanity – Sin, the world, and the devil
2. False religions are all works based operations
3. They teach either an erroneous version of Christ or no Christ at all
4. They use false or corrupted versions of Scripture to make their case
II. The Biblical Truth of Jesus Christ
A. Christ’s Pre-Incarnate Existence
1. Names ascribed to Him indicate His Eternality
a. Immanuel – “God with us” – Isaiah 7:14
b. Wonderful – compare Judges 13:15-18 with Isaiah 9:6
c. Mighty God – Isaiah 9:6-7
d. Everlasting Father – Isaiah 9:6-7
e. The One to be Ruler – Micah 5:2 – “From of old, from everlasting”
2. Christ is the Creator – proof He existed before Time
a. Christ created all things – John 1:1-3; Heb 1:1-2
