I’ve chased the things I thought would last,
And watched them slowly fade to past.
I tried to hold the world too tight —
It went its way,
no matter what I thought.

I waited for the perfect time,
Thought life would meet me right in line.
But all the moments came and passed,
Quietly, like fields of grass.

I’ve been learning,
Slow and late —
The more I run,
The more I wait.
The more I plan,
The more I miss
The simple things
I never noticed.

I built my hopes on distant ground,
Ignored the love that stayed around.
I thought tomorrow held the key —
Tomorrow just walked past me.

I saved my dreams for “one day soon,”
And lost the sunlight in the room.
I kept my heart a step behind,
And called it strength,
While wasting time.

I’ve been learning,
Slow and late —
The more I run,
The more I wait.
The more I plan,
The more I miss
The simple things
I never noticed.

Maybe life is not a race,
Not a prize we need to win.
Maybe it was always there —
Waiting quietly within.

Now I’m learning,
Soft and slow —
To let things come,
To let them go.
To see the day
For what it is —
The simple things
I always missed.

I’ve chased the things I thought would last…
Now I breathe,
And let them pass.
