Xi'an City in northwest China's Shaanxi Province once dazzled along the ancient Silk Road. Under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the city has witnessed a new era of development. "The ancient Silk Road was mainly a channel for commodity exchange. But the modern Silk Road Economic Belt is not only about trade, but also about countries along the route achieving win-win cooperation," said Ren Baoping, dean of the China (Xi'an) Institute for Silk Road Research.
