Huge thanks to Anthony for playing the solo! I approached Anthony for this, since I feel like the bluesy dad-rock vibe fits his playing a bit better and I was honestly having a hard time playing it haha. He played it basically 1:1 and it sounds amazing, wonderful job.
Still on the topic of the solo, I originally used pitch shifter pedal plugin for that last part, but it didn't sound right. So I did something I learned from Anthony when he was doing his cover of "Through the Fire and the Flames."
Apparently, Melodyne does a surprisingly great job of getting that pitch-shift sound, so that's what I did. Anthony notated what the original notes were and came up with a way to play it, then I pitched about every other note up two octaves. I think it sounds really cool!

So, this is one of my favorite Meshuggah songs. The first time I heard it, I was blown away by that intro. Of course I get it now, but the first few times listening to it, that drum groove seemed to come out of nowhere, really cool stuff.
I learned most of it on drums a couple of years ago and it's kinda my go-to for messing around on the kit. If you play drums at all, I highly recommend learning this song, it's a lot of fun!

Guitar: Mercuriall TSC → STL Ignite Emissary → Archetype: Gojira (EQ and 1st cab only)
Bass: Darkglass Ultra Plugin → Ampeg SVTVR Classic
Drums: SSD for kick, snare, and toms. GGD Invasion for cymbals
GUITAR
I literally used the same tone I made for my last cover: "Your Troubles Will Cease and Fortune Will Smile Upon You" by After the Burial. I'm just really liking the way STL Ignite Emissary sounds lately.
I also put a short ambience reverb on the guitars with Chromaverb, since the original has a sorta roomy sound that I like.
DRUMS
I looooooooooove the original's snare sound so much!! But I didn't even want to try replicating it, so I just used some fake sounding samples in SSD to get that super polished sound. I've really enjoyed using SSD lately, since the samples are pretty easy for me to work with.
And I used GGD Invasion for the cymbals this time around, but idk... I probably should've used Modern and Massive instead. Invasion's rides kinda suck as crashes and that's a HUGE part of Meshuggah's sound. Instead, I just used some crashes, but I'm not sure I really like the ones I used all that much.
Idk, the cymbals are fine, but I definitely could've done a better job picking out samples and all that.
