In the HYPOXiX system, Level 1 Standing Split is a fully isometric series. The lower and upper body remain still, allowing the nervous system to sense and refine micro-adjustments in posture, breath, and internal resistance. This static precision teaches you how to generate muscular tension without movement—building the foundation for stability, proprioception, and deep-core awareness through the Ab-Ribbon. Mastery at Level 1 prepares the body to introduce controlled upper-body motion in Level 2 while maintaining grounded isometric endurance in the legs.
In Standing Split 1.1, we begin one of the cornerstone movements of the HYPOXiX Technique—our refined take on the traditional split squat. You’ll learn how to create ground resistance by subtly pulling your front foot back toward your back foot, activating the forward-leg hamstrings and glutes while expanding the front of the hip capsule to reduce the irritation that can occur in standard lunges.
Each HYPOXiX Functional Movement, including this one, also teaches you how to connect to the tactile feedback of the Ab-Ribbon. The Ab-Ribbon is your direct line of communication with your deep core—it gives your nervous system instant feedback on how breath, posture, and internal pressure align. When used with the 2-second inhale / 8-second forced exhale, it helps reposition the pelvis, stabilize the spine, and train your core to lead every movement from the inside out.
This foundational level focuses on postural precision, gaze specificity, and foot awareness, setting the stage for the upper-level variations that integrate push, pull, and rotational resistance using the Band Squid System. Each repetition teaches the body to find balance through controlled breath and internal feedback, strengthening the neural pathways that connect stability, strength, and calm.
Mastering Standing Split 1.1 will begin improving your:
• Core stability and breath-to-movement synchronization
• Hamstring and glute activation through sustained ground resistance
• Pelvic alignment and hip mobility
• Foot strength and nervous-system precision
• Awareness of internal pressure through Ab-Ribbon feedback
Breathe deep. Move slow. Build power through stillness.
