This video shows Dr. Evan Matthews explaining how to prepare the skin and apply the sticker electrodes for a 12 lead electrocardiogram, i.e. ECG or EKG. The electrode placement used in this video can be used for either a resting ECG or an exercising ECG (exercise stress test). An ECG is a visual depiction of the electrical activity of the cardiac muscle. It is commonly assessed in exercise science and medical settings because its assessment allows you to understand how and when the muscle is contracting.
