Saint Crispina (d. 304 AD) was a noble, wealthy Christian mother from North Africa whose deep faith led her to martyrdom during the brutal Diocletianic Persecution. Her feast day is celebrated on December 5.
Although she came from a respected family and lived a comfortable life, Crispina cared more about her faith in Jesus than about wealth or status. When Roman officials ordered her to renounce Christ and sacrifice to pagan gods, she refused with calm courage — even when threatened with death.
She was shaved, humiliated, and tried publicly, but she answered with dignity and confidence. Saint Augustine later preached about her often, calling her a shining example for all Christians, especially mothers and families in North Africa. Her story travelled across the early Church as a symbol of unwavering love for Christ.
Crispina was finally beheaded for her faith, but she accepted her martyrdom joyfully, trusting that nothing could separate her from the love of God.
📖 In this episode kids will learn:
Who Saint Crispina was
What life was like for Christians in North Africa
How she stayed brave during persecution
Why Saint Augustine honoured her so highly
What her witness teaches us about courage and faith
✨ Lesson for Kids:
True courage comes from trusting God completely — even when we’re afraid.
Saint Crispina shows that faith and love are stronger than fear.
