East Lancashire Railway Rail 200 Gala! Furness 20, Class 70, 34092 and More! September 2025!

Описание: In this Railway 200 celebratory year, the East Lancashire Railway hosted a mixed traffic gala with an eclectic mixture of traction. Locomotives dating as far back as 1863 and as recent as 2007.

Saturday 13th September
We begin south of Irwell Vale with EX Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Class 23 in her LMS guise as No11456, marching along with the first train of the day to Rawtenstall.

We then move to see 1863 built Furness Railway No20 trundling through Burrs Country Park with a pair of Saloons! A Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway directors saloon, followed by a Great Eastern Railway Royal Saloon on loan from the Ribble Steam Railway. Next we see West Country Class Pacific Locomotive Number 34092 City Of Wells departing the station.

We move once again to Irwell Vale, this time to the viaducts at Alderbottom to see 11456 rocketing along! Then, some on board footage of the saddle tank marching into Bury Bolton Street with a train from Heywood.

Our next two shots are at Ramsbottom Station to see Furness 20 move off to the sidings and 11456 arrive with her train for Rawtenstall.

The last shot of the day, on Saturday was Furness 20 with "The Irwell Valley Fryer" fish and chip special! On a rare occasion I wasn't too displeased with the lateness of the train, as the light beaming into Castlecroft was absolutely sublime!

Sunday 14th September
We begin at Summerseat with Wells absolutely blasting out of Summerseat! after that we see Freightliner Class 70 70008 and British Railways Class 56 56006 coasting into the station.

We move over to Brooksbottom to see No20 chuffing along with the vintage saloons over the viaduct before finishing with 11456 accelerating towards Brooksbottom Tunnel!
