We visit Pont du Gard, one of the worlds best kept aqueducts built 2000 years ago

In this video, the 17th in a longer series from our late summer trip 2024 to France, Northeastern Spain, Andorra, and back through France/Provence, we visit Pont du Gard. The Roman aqueduct was built about 50 years AD and is still in fair condition after some renovations. The bridge next to the aqueduct was built much later, to cater for bridge tax. Today the bridge is only for pedestrians.
During our visit, we stayed at the nearby camping place, Camping la Sousta. It's a forest camping place with interesting and unique pitches among and under the shades of old pine and oak trees.
After this historic approach, we continued to a winery in Languedoc Roussillon, where we could stay for free as members of France Passion.

I denne video, den syttende i en længere serie, fra vores sensommertur 2024 til Frankrig, Nordøstspanien, Andorra, og tilbage gennem Frankrig/Provence, besøger vi Pont du Gard. Det er en oldgammel romersk akvadukt, bygget omtrent år 50. Selve broen ved siden af blev først bygget mange år senere for at komme nemmere over floden Gardos, men også for at kunne opkræve skatter :) I dag er det kun tilladt at krydse broen til fods. Under vores besøg boede vi på campingpladsen tæt ved, Camping la Sousta. Det er en fin skovcampingplads med unikke pladser mellem og under de gamle fyrretræer og egetræer. Efter akvadukten kørte vi til et lille vinslot i Laguedoc Roussillon-distriktet. De er også France Passion-værter så der kunne vi holde for natten.
