The Jigging Jerks and friends (including Ken Westerfeld, holder of the blackfish all tackle world record and John Skinner) got together on June 2, 2018 for the annual Billy's on the Bay Fluke Tournament.
The Tournament is based out of Greenport in the North Fork of Long Island and 50 plus boats participated this year. Each participating boat checks in at the Greenport jetty at 7:00 am and can then fish anywhere, as long as you are back at Billy's restaurant by 3:30 pm to weigh in your fish.
We decided we would make the long run to Montauk and hoped it would lead to a doormat winning fish.
We dealt with severe weather on the 30 plus mile run to Montauk (dense fog) and even worse weather on the way back.
Despite, this we managed to finish 2nd and 3rd in the tournament with a 9.02 pound fluke taking second and an 8.3 pound fluke taking 3rd.
