How to Analyze Spectacular Sidekicks

Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio started their careers as readers. They went on to write blockbusters such as Shrek and the Pirates of the Caribbean. These two films grew into major franchises. Being a reader is important!!

The Matrix is also an iconic franchise that stands the test of time.

Okay. Obviously they're not exactly the same...they are indeed very different. But there are elements that are shockingly similar. These elements are what makes each STORY stand the test of time.

For example, they both have two of the best sidekicks ever written.

Morpheus and Donkey.

While Morpheus is quintessentially cool, Donkey is everyone's best friend. And the protagonists, Neo and Shrek, rely on them to move the story forward.

Once you see this in great detail, you will never unsee it. 

Then you will also be able to see what makes a good sidekick in countless other films. It's truly amazing.
