Hi, I’m Dr. Rushayne Stewart.

Today, I want to speak to my Christian and Muslim brothers and sisters around the world.

We are entering a sacred time.

For Christians, it is the season of Lent.
For Muslims, it is the holy month of Ramadan.

Though our traditions are different, this season reminds us of something deeply similar.

It is a time to pause.
A time to reflect.
A time to discipline the body so the spirit can grow stronger.

Christians fast and pray as they journey toward the remembrance of Christ’s sacrifice.

Muslims fast from dawn to sunset, seeking closeness to Allah through prayer, charity, and self-control.

But at the heart of both seasons is one powerful truth:

God is calling us back to Him.

Back to humility.
Back to compassion.
Back to mercy.
Back to righteousness.

Fasting is not just about food.
It is about the heart.

It is about letting go of pride, anger, hatred, and selfishness.
It is about feeding the hungry, helping the poor, forgiving those who hurt us, and becoming better human beings.

In a world filled with division, conflict, and pain, this is a season that reminds us:

We are all human.
We all struggle.
We all need mercy.
And we all need God.

So whether you are observing Lent or fasting during Ramadan, let this be more than a ritual.

Let it be a transformation.

A transformation of the heart.
A transformation of the mind.
A transformation of the way we treat one another.

Let us use this sacred season to:

Pray more.
Love more.
Give more.
Forgive more.
And live more righteously.

To my Christian family, may this Lenten season draw you closer to Christ.
To my Muslim family, may this Ramadan bring you peace, mercy, and spiritual renewal.

And to all of us, may this be a season where we grow closer, not only to God, but also to each other.

Because when the heart is pure, compassion has no religion.
