THOUGHTS
There's an absence of Thor comics in this section of the order as we take a break from Thor, the Warriors Three, and the Tales of Asgard. Doctor Strange (on our video thumbnail) meets the Living Tribunal for the first time (Strange Tales 157-158). The debut of Yandroth and Nightmare's world is also introduced (164). Several important issues of the Fantastic Four highlight the debut of the Kree alien race (64), Ronan the Accuser and the Supreme Intelligence (65), and Adam Warlock as "Him" (66-67). We learn more about the backstory of the Black Widow and her husband the Red Guardian in Avengers 43-44. The Avengers first Annual issue comes out as well as the team of Cap, Goliath, Wasp, Hawkeye, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, and Herc begin to hit their stride. In his own comic, Tales of Suspense, Captain America's meets a new villain, M.O.D.O.K. (93-94). We are reaching the home stretch of shared comics as Tales of Suspense, Tales to Astonish, and Strange Tales will soon split so that the Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Sub-Mariner, Doctor Strange, and Nick Fury will have their own comic. Marvel artist and writer, Jim Steranko, began to emerge in 1967, taking Nick Fury's story to innovative and groundbreaking new heights. Entire pages would be devoted to photocollages of drawings that ignored panel boundaries and illustrated planes of depth. Steranko popularized psychedelia and pop art into the comic medium, which became a benchmark of the late 60s Silver Age. Overall, the Marvel universe is expanding with each comic, creating an unavoidable freight train that invaded pop culture. At this time, Stan Lee would visit college's across the country and receive a rock star welcome from the students as he discussed his craft.
