IN THE BOTTLE
Aromas of tart cranberries, pomegranate, candied mandarin orange, gingerbread, and red cherries. Although it can be enjoyed on its own, it is also delicious in a spritz with the addition of club soda or prosecco. During the holidays, we often publish a popular cranberry sangria recipe.
CLASSIC FLAVOR PROFILES OF VARIETAL
Fresh cranberries are overwhelming tart, so they are usually cooked and sweetened into a sauce, jam, or juice. Cranberries are also rich in polyphenols, a class of chemicals which includes tannins. This is why our cranberry wine is slightly tannic on the palate.
VARIETAL FACTS
Cranberries are related to blueberries and huckleberries. 97% of the world's cranberry production occurs in the United States, Canada, and Chile.
HISTORY
Cranberries grow on evergreen vines in bogs in New England and other cool, northern states. A common misconception is that cranberry bogs are filled with water all year long. Instead, the bogs are flooded during harvest because the ripe berries will float, making them easier to collect.
DID YOU KNOW?
Use it for pairings where you would use Pinot Noir. Also try it in cocktails! It makes a refreshing spritz with the addition of soda water and a twist of lemon.
