Описание: Rapid urbanization presents a global challenge, impacting resource allocation, environmental sustainability, and societal well-being. Urban sprawl poses significant challenges, necessitating effective planning and management strategies. Despite widespread discussions on urban sprawl, comprehensive studies are lacking to predict future growth trajectories using dynamic modeling and urban sprawl metrics. Urban sprawl metrics and dynamics refer to the quantitative and qualitative measures and underlying processes that characterize spatial expansion and land use over time. This study addresses the gap in understanding future growth trajectories through urban sprawl metrics and dynamic modeling in the Hisar Metropolitan Region in Haryana, India. Predicting Future Growth Trajectories involves analyzing spatial patterns and dynamics to anticipate urban expansion and its implications. Leveraging ArcGIS 10.8 and Fragstats 4.0, Landsat level 2 data are utilized to create land use/land cover (LULC) maps and quantify landscape metrics. Results suggest evolving land use patterns and highlight the importance of sustainable urban development strategies. This study underscores the significance of proactive urban planning to mitigate adverse impacts of urban sprawl.
