Описание: Independence is often assumed to be the key to success, but is there a better path? Jeremy Poincenot suddenly became legally blind as a 19-year-old college sophomore, then went on to win the World Blind Golf Championship at age 20. Forced to collaborate with family and friends to succeed as a blind golfer and professional inspirational speaker, Jeremy is now able to see the power of interdependence more clearly than ever before. Jeremy Poincenot was a San Diego State University student when he developed a rare genetic disorder called Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON). At 19, Poincenot lost central vision in his right eye, followed closely by his left. This disorder affects a mere 100 people in the United States each year with no treatment or cure. One year later, he won the World Blind Golf Championship in England. Today, he is a motivational speaker and raises awareness about LHON. He and some friends also created the annual CURE (Cycling Under Reduced Eyesight) Ride, an event that raises funds for LHON research. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
