It also appears in The Tale of the Heike, and is known as the nunnery of tragic love where Gion, a Shirabyoshi dancer favored by Taira no Kiyomori, was exiled from the capital after Kiyomori had a change of heart,
and entered the temple to become a nun with her mother and sister.
