-- RECIPE: Savory Breakfast Wreath --
Ingredients:
1 cup warm water
1 cup room temperature yogurt
1 packet instant dry yeast (10g)
2 medium-sized eggs (yolk separated from one egg for brushing)
1 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt
Approx. 4 cups flour (using a standard 200ml measure)
Filling & Topping:
Approx. 3.5 oz soft white cheese (mixed with parsley)
Mini bell peppers and small tomato (or vegetables of choice)
Instructions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, yogurt, instant yeast, egg white, one whole egg, vegetable oil, and salt. Mix well.
2. Gradually add flour until a smooth, non-sticky dough forms (about 4 cups).
3. Knead for 3-4 minutes until smooth.
4. Cover and let rise until at least doubled in size (or refrigerate overnight).
5. Gently punch down the air. Divide the dough into two pieces.
6. Roll the first piece to about half an inch thick. Use a 12-inch plate to cut a perfect circle and transfer to parchment paper.
7. Use a small glass or cutter to cut small circles from the remaining dough.
8. Arrange the small dough circles around the rim of an 8-inch bowl placed in the center of the large dough circle, overlapping slightly.
9. Gently press the dough pieces together with your fingers to help them stick.
10. Invert the bowl and press down firmly to create the flower shape.
11. Fill the center with the cheese and parsley mixture, and top with vegetables.
12. Brush with the reserved egg yolk (optional: sprinkle with seeds).
13. Bake in a preheated oven until golden brown.
