I stayed at a really nice hotel in Chengdu called The Temple House. It’s now my favorite hotel! It is kind of expensive though ($200+ per night) so I only stayed there a couple nights. My room was the Studio 90, which is 96 sqm and has a large balcony. The room looked exactly like the photos at their web site (http://www.thetemplehousehotel.com).
The hotel is right next to (or part of?) the Taikoo Li shopping area, which is part of the Chunxi Road shopping district.
