In this Lines and Colors lesson we study the standing figure using a simple three-part proportion method: head to waist, waist to knees, and knees to feet. The drawing begins with a broad shaded mass to understand balance and weight before any detail is added.
The goal is to see the large relationships first — structure before refinement. I also briefly compare this with master construction approaches to show how different methods share the same proportional foundation.
Try this approach with several poses. Keep your marks light, stay general at first, and build understanding before detail.
