Yesterday, Uganda’s increasingly partisan police tried to slam the brakes on democracy, announcing a sudden ban on processions after tens of thousands poured into Kawempe Division for Bobi Wine rallies. But today, their warning fell spectacularly flat. In a stunning show of defiance, massive crowds once again surged around Bobi Wine as he led a powerful procession toward his rally in Mukono District.
The message from the people couldn’t be louder: Museveni’s intimidation, tear gas, and police sabotage can’t drown out the public’s voice. Despite every tactic thrown at them, Ugandans showed up—bold, unshaken, and determined.
