We get an update to Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Switch Online, and the next game to be included is Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team. This game released in 2005 in Japan, while the rest of the world got it in 2006, this game had two versions, Red Rescue Team came out on GBA, while Blue Rescue Team was on Nintendo DS. This game takes place in the Pokémon World, and the main character is a Pokémon who was once a human and can understand other Pokémon in the world, and they hear about the disasters that have been affecting it lately.
As this video is a preview video of the game and it will be in the Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Switch Online playlist, I don't have current plans to do a playthrough on Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team yet, as I have just very recently recorded videos for Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team. I might record more videos for Red Rescue Team, but don't expect them right away as I had just played through Blue Rescue Team, I would have started this playthrough had I known it was coming, and the reason I did Blue Rescue Team was because they didn't announce a new Pokémon spin-off game for 2024 in the Pokémon Presents back then, but at least I will go over things in the description if ever it comes down to doing a playthrough of this game, which won't be very soon.
When you start up the game, you go through a personality test which determines your starter, the starters in this game are Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Meowth, Psyduck, Machop, Cubone, Eevee, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip, and Skitty, while the partners are the Grass, Fire, and Water-types, and Pikachu.
There are some starters exclusive to genders, the male exclusives are Cyndaquil, Machop, and Meowth, while the female exclusives are Chikorita, Skitty, and Eevee. You then pick your partner, they cannot be the same type as your starter, for example, if you get Charmander, you cannot pick Cyndaquil or Torchic for your partner.
Then you wake up with no memory as a human, and there is one thing that I never went over, I don't like to nickname Pokémon, and I feel like that I am the only player that ever names the player Pokémon by their species name, because every YouTube video that I watch, the player uses their real name or their username, and never the species name, and they sometimes keep the partner as their species name or give them a name. In the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Anime species, the Pokémon that was once a human was referred to by their species name, while in the Manga, the Pokémon was known by their human name.
I get Charmander as my starter and choose Pikachu for my partner, I did at first consider picking female so that I can play as Eevee or Chikorita, but I didn't want to start over the personality test, and I did not want to play as Squirtle or Treecko as I played as them recently, and I didn't want to be Bulbasaur or Cyndaquil for this one as I had already used them many times.
At the start of the game, Butterfree comes and tells us that her child Caterpie has fallen into a fissure and she was unable to fight off the wild Pokémon in the dungeon, so it is up to us to save Caterpie in Tiny Woods. This is an easy 3 floor dungeon, and you can find Pidgey, Wurmple, Sunkern, and Exeggcute in the dungeon, and at the end, we rescue Caterpie and get our reward.
Then we get a Rescue Team Base and go through some tutorials and get our next request, and it is to rescue two Magnemite at Thunderwave Cave, a 5 floor dungeon, and the Pokémon there are Rattata, Poochyena, Nidoran♀, Voltorb, Elekid, Plusle, and Minun. Plusle is exclusive to Red Rescue Team, and Minun is exclusive to Blue Rescue Team, but there is way to get the other in the opposite game through Wonder Mail jobs.
After rescuing the Magnemite, we get our reward, and the next day, we visit Pokémon Square and find some rescue jobs at the Pelipper Post Office, and I decided to take them on in this video, and that will be where I will stop at for now. I might record more videos for Red Rescue Team, but I won't put them up this soon as I had already just done Blue Rescue Team, I might wait a bit till then, or if I need a game to include just in case. The controls took me a while to get used to as I was used to Blue Rescue Team, but it will take some time, but still good to see Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team come to Nintendo Switch Online, even though this game did get a remake 4 years ago for the Switch in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, but at least we have the original game to play through Nintendo Switch Online.
