Making a vendor booth at a farmers market? Here are lessons from 3 farmers in Appalachian northeast TN on how they design their booth based on basic principles that you can follow. Ashley Cavender moderates, she's worked with hundreds of market vendors and all 12 farmers markets in TN and helped open two farmers markets (the East TN State Univ. Farmers Market and Boone Street Market). Farmers sharing their expertise are:
-- Steve Mallory of Hope Farms & Studio in Greeneville. Specializing in fresh vegetable produce as well as farm-dyed indigo scarves and other eco-printed fashions.
-- Merle Stolzfus of Greene Pasture Farm & Hatchery in Greeneville. Specializing in abundant hydroponic lettuces, cucumbers, and tomatoes, with farmers market booths and also his brick-and-mortar farm store.
--Jake Hubbard of Brookhaven Farms, who farms in Southwest VA and Washington County TN. Specializing in raw milk products, grass-raised beef and pork and lamb, and eggs.
