Prescribed Burn Highlights – June 4th, Greenhorn Reservoir, Yreka, CA
Prescribed burning mimics the natural, low-intensity fires that historically reduced combustible fuels in our forests. By conducting these carefully planned burns, we reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire—protecting both our community and the forrests that surround it.
This video highlights the June 4th prescribed burn at Greenhorn Reservoir, showcasing the collaborative efforts of the City of Yreka, CAL FIRE, and the Siskiyou Prescribed Burn Association (SPBA). This effort is part of a long-term, sustainable wildfire mitigation strategy to improve forest health and increase community resilience.
