Ride along in the cab of ex-ICG GP38 Missouri-Kansas-Texas No. 325 (and 340), one of several Katy units leased by RailTex's Austin & Northwestern (AUNW) Railroad on a Gandy Turn from Bertram to Fairland and return in a rare Texas winter snow.
Mr. Vaughan shot the video, whom Bert Dockall probably called ahead of time for the ride along, which Mr. Vaughan did quite a few times. Mr, Vaughan captured the flavor of those early days of the AUNW, including in cab banter, radio conversations and lots of switching at the rock quarry at Gandy which the Main Track ran right through the middle of. Not much exists of those days, so I am happy to share these glimpses from the past in memory of Mr. Vaughan and Mr. Dockall. I hope all will enjoy!
