Day 3 - Finding the Shadows: Ink Drawing of a Sunflower Tutorial

Описание: Day 3 of this 5 day sketchbook challenge, requires you to draw in ink, hence beating back perfection.

You should use lots of different line qualities and textures to represent your flower. So try to practise this first, you should always do a warm up activity in a scribble sketchbook to explore the techniques you will then use in your final drawing. Try to water down the ink or coffee to create lighter tones. Use different utensils like a brush, stick or cocktail stick to create different lines and marks.

A really good artist to look at for inspiration is Vincent Van Gogh, his ink drawings show a huge range of mark making inspiration.

Techniques-
Use a ink to create tone by varying the amount of water.
Put lines closer/ further away to suggest tone.
Allow layers to dry fully before applying a new layer.
Use a brush as this will allow you to add thick/thin and tapered lines much more easily.
To create a fluid line quality you should work as quickly as possible.
Try to study the source more than you look at the paper.
