Описание: In this video, we’ll dive into prostaglandins, hormone-like substances that act as local hormones, affecting tissues directly where they are produced in both humans and animals. Prostaglandins are created through a series of chemical reactions, beginning with the enzyme phospholipase, which catalyzes fatty acids such as arachidonic acid. This process, involving cyclooxygenase, produces intermediate compounds like prostaglandin H2, which can transform into various types, including prostaglandin F2α, thromboxane A2, and prostaglandin E2. These molecules play significant roles in the body: they stimulate the hypothalamus to increase body temperature, activate immune cells during inflammation, and sensitize nerves to pain. Additionally, prostaglandins influence blood clotting, constrict and dilate blood vessels, and protect the stomach lining by promoting mucus production. Medications like aspirin work by inhibiting prostaglandins, reducing inflammation and pain.
