Artbook “SKETCHAOS” (Entei Ryu)

Hoy os comparto un vistazo al libro de arte SKETCHAOS, un libro muy especial porque está autoeditado a modo de sketchbook propio por la fantástica artista Entei Ryu, a la que ya introduje en un vídeo previo dedicado a su libro “Chimera”:

   • Artbook “CHIMERA” (Entei Ryu)  

SKETCHAOS es una colección de más de 300 páginas en formato A5 que reúne casi todos los bocetos a lápiz y en iPad que la artista realizó a lo largo de la última década, incluyendo muchos que no pudieron aparecer en sus dos publicaciones comerciales anteriores. Es un libro nacido puramente de la pasión personal y concebido como un diario creativo, lo que lo hace, como os decía, una obra muy especial.

La primera edición tuvo una tirada limitada de 100 copias firmadas, disponible exclusivamente en el evento LightBox Expo de octubre del año pasado en EEUU y se agotó completamente durante el evento, como no podía ser de otra forma.

Este éxito, e imagino que las peticiones que muchos le hicimos, llevó a la artista a lanzar una segunda edición (la de esta publicación). De nuevo 100 copias, con ligeros ajustes en impresión y diseño, pero manteniendo prácticamente el mismo contenido. Esta edición estuvo principalmente orientada al mercado japonés a través de la plataforma BOOTH:

En mi caso, al estar en España, tuve que recurrir a un servicio proxy (Tenso) para poder gestionar la compra local y el envío internacional. ¡Fue toda una alegría conseguir hacerse con uno porque volvieron a agotarse!

Si os interesa el trabajo de Entei Ryu y el proceso detrás de sus ilustraciones, este libro es prácticamente una ventana directa a su pensamiento creativo y evolución artística.

De fondo suena “Somebody up There Likes You” de Lost Desert y Lee Burridge, porque este libro es como un “sueño” 🙂

Today I’m sharing a look at the art book SKETCHAOS, a very special book because it’s self-published as a personal sketchbook by the fantastic artist Entei Ryu, whom I previously introduced in a video dedicated to her book Chimera:

   • Artbook “CHIMERA” (Entei Ryu)  

SKETCHAOS is a collection of over 300 A5-sized pages bringing together almost all of the pencil and iPad sketches the artist created over the past decade, including many that couldn’t be featured in her two previous commercial publications. It’s a book born purely from personal passion and conceived as a creative diary, which makes it, as I mentioned, a truly special work.

The first edition had a limited print run of 100 signed copies, available exclusively at last October’s LightBox Expo event in the US, and it completely sold out during the event — as expected.

This success, and I imagine the requests many of us made, led the artist to release a second edition (the one featured in this post). Once again, 100 copies, with slight adjustments to printing and design, but keeping virtually the same content. This edition was primarily aimed at the Japanese market through the BOOTH platform:

In my case, being based in Spain, I had to use a proxy service (Tenso) to handle the local purchase and international shipping. It was such a joy to manage to get a copy, because they sold out once more!

If you’re interested in Entei Ryu’s work and the process behind her illustrations, this book is practically a direct window into her creative thinking and artistic evolution.

In the background you can hear “Somebody up There Likes You” by Lost Desert and Lee Burridge… Because this book feels like a “dream” 🙂
