Soon, you have an appointment for a medical assessment at ICON.
Prepare yourself well for this at home:

Read all of the information you have received
Complete the medical questionnaire
Sign the consent letter for your doctor
Note any questions you want to ask during the appointment

Also follow the rules that apply to the medical assessment; you need to fast for instance. These rules are written in the appointment confirmation. We will send you an appointment reminder. Please let us know in time if you can’t attend.

You will visit our screening center at the agreed time and will report to the reception desk on arrival. Our staff will check a number of things, including your ID and that you have completed the medical questionnaire.

The screening will take around three hours in total and consists of:
An appointment with a doctor or nurse, who will explain what to expect from the trial and take you through the informed consent form. You will also be able to ask any questions you may have. If you have all the information you need and you are happy to give your consent, you will then sign the form. The doctor or nurse will sign the form too.
The nurse will take several measurements, including your height and weight, a heart trace will be performed, and blood and urine samples will be taken.
The doctor will then go through the medical questionnaire with you and perform a physical examination.
Once the screening is complete, you will be given something to eat and drink.
You will also be given a copy of the signed informed consent form and will then be able to go home.

You then wait for the results. These are often known 2 to 3 days later. ICON will phone you to tell you whether you have been approved. For any more questions about the medical screening please contact us.
