“Namaste all. Bhadrapada Poornima, a very sacred full moon in the Sanatan Dharma calendar. This day holds special importance as it marks the beginning of Pitru Paksha, the fortnight dedicated to our ancestors.”
“In Sanatan Dharma, it is believed that during Pitru Paksha, the souls of our forefathers descend to bless us. By remembering them with Shraddha, Tarpana, and charity, we express our gratitude for the life and culture they have given us. We celebrate this throughout this waning moon cycle.”
“On each of these days, we can aim up wake up early with sunrise, take a holy bath, and perform Tarpana (offering to sun, a tree, birds or animals) with water, sesame seeds or any other grains, and flowers. Simple satvik food can prepared and offered with devotion to our ancestors to given to people who need food or animals. We can also follow others acts of charity in the name of ancestors.”
“The scriptures tell us that honoring our ancestors during Bhadrapada Poornima and Pitru Paksha brings peace to their souls, and in return, they bless us with health, harmony, and prosperity.”
“Let us remember – our life is a gift from those who came before us. By honoring them on Bhadrapada Poornima, we connect with our roots and invite their blessings. Om Shanti.”
