Learn about North Carolina alligators and the efforts being undertaken to support them in this webinar, with special guest Alicia Davis and moderated by Ann Somers.
Alicia Davis is an alligator biologist with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC). In her current position, she is responsible for the management and coordination of a wide range of alligator-related projects. Alicia received her bachelor’s degree in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology from NC State University in 2015 with a minor in Zoology. She is a member of The Wildlife Society (national and state chapters), the North Carolina Herpetological Society, NC Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation, and the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agency's Alligator Working Group.
Ann Berry Somers is an award-winning teacher of biology and wildlife conservation at UNC-Greensboro. She teaches courses on sea turtles in Costa Rica, coral reef conservation in the Caribbean, and one called Wildness as Teacher (field trips within NC). She is the founder of the 100-year state-wide box turtle study called The Box Turtle Connection, now in its 12th year. This Citizen Science effort involves over 32 trained Project Leaders collecting data on box turtles at sites across North Carolina. Somers is a consultant for the turtle conservation project at the University of Bengkulu in Sumatra, Indonesia and serves on the N.C. Wildlife Federation Board of Directors.
