BRITS vs Halo Halo, Did We Fail Again?🇵🇭

Описание: Halo-halo is a popular Filipino dessert made from a mix of shaved ice, sweetened fruits (like jackfruit and banana), jellies, and beans, topped with leche flan, purple yam (ube), and a scoop of ice cream. It's a refreshing, colorful treat perfect for hot weather and festive occasions.

When we first came to the Philippines in 2024, we wanted to try this dessert, not only because everyone we spoke to said that we had to try it, but mainly because it sounded so crazy and different from the desserts we have back in the UK (the closest thing we could think of was a "Knickerbocker Glory." If you don't know what that is, just give it a Google, haha).
When we tried Halo Halo for the first time, we didn’t realize it, but we made a huge mistake… we forgot to mix the ingredients together and instead ate it layer by layer. For those of you who don’t know (like we didn’t), Halo Halo means "Mix Mix," so when we forgot to mix the ingredients, it was pretty funny for anyone watching who knew what we were doing wrong.
This is our first time in the Philippines, and we’re going to redeem ourselves. It was a hot day in Manila, and we could hear Halo Halo calling our names. It was the middle of the day, we skipped lunch, and went straight to dessert (it’s great being an adult).
As soon as the dish hit the table, we mixed that baby up and dug in. It was so much better than the first time we had it… probably because we mixed it!
